KitchenAid K45SS Classic Stand Dough Mixer can fit your budget without costing you a lot of bills. The KitchenAid K45SS Classic Stand Mixer is a single beater style stand dough mixer with 250 watts of power with a four and one-half quart capacity.
This KitchenAid stand mixer is a good choice for those who do their baking in large batches.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: 8.7 x 14.1 x 13.9 inches ; 28 pounds
  • Weight: 25 Pounds

Features

  • Comes with accessories: Dough hook, wire whip, flat beater.
  • 10 Speed mixer with 4/12 quart capcity.
  • Warranty

PROS: Perhaps the most impressive thing about this mixer is the capacity of the bowl when compared to other dough mixers.  At four and one-half quarts, you could load it up with enough dough to make two loaves of bread.  If sweets are more your thing, no problem:  there is enough room to make a few dozen cookies at a time inside the bowl.
The design of the KitchenAid K45SS Classic Stand Dough Mixer uses a single beater rather than a dual beater as compared to other dough mixers.  It works by rotating not only the beater but also by rotating the beater itself around the bowl.  This is a very efficient way to mix as it does not require you to scrape the sides of the bowl with a spatula.
As this is a KitchenAid product, you may think that it would be expensive.  That is just not the case. This model resides in lower price line.  That said, it still offers the KitchenAid quality and dependability that the company is famous for.
Included in the low price are several attachments:  a dough hook, a wire whip, and a flat beater, each of which is used for a variety of mixing jobs.

CONS: There is not much to include in this section.  The only real complaint that can be levied at the KitchenAid K45SS Classic Stand Mixer is that it is heavy with a capital “H.”  Before you rush out and buy one, you may want to make sure that you have the counter space for the machine as you will not want to store it away between uses.

Conlusion: While this mixer may be at the “bottom of the line” as far as most of the KitchenAid dough mixers out there, that does not mean that it skimps on features or quality in any way.  Why not do yourself the service of checking out this KitchenAid K45SS Classic Stand Mixer.  Chances are high that you will be more than glad that you did.

( 2 ) KITCHENAID 9 SPEED HAND MIXER

Score (Rank)

Value: 8.5/10 (4)
Performance/Ease of Use: 8.75/10 (2)
Quality: 9.5/10 (1)

Overall Rating: 8.75/10 (2)

The KitchenAid 9 Speed Hand dough mixer is KitchenAid’s own take on a hand held version of their popular stand mixing models. This particular mixer, known by its full name as KitchenAid KHM9PWH 9-Speed Professional Hand Mixer, is a variable speed hand mixer designed with the home baker in mind. This is a great gadget for anyone who enjoys baking at home with the versatility of hand mixer rather than a stand mixer or does not have the counter space to keep a stand dough mixer handy.

Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 3.5 x 7.5 x 6.4 inches ; 3.2 pounds
  • Weight: 3 pounds

Feature:

  • Nine digital speeds, 7-1/2 inches long by 6-1/2 inches high
  • Pro whisk attachment increases air for fluffier mixtures
  • Comfort-designed handle; heel rest won’t tip when set on end
  • Powerful lightweight motor designed for quiet, lifelong operation
  • Wipes off for easy cleaning

PROS: The KitchenAid 9 Speed Hand Dought Mixer has nine mixing speeds – just as the name suggest – and all nine of them are very usable.  The first speed is the slowest and as you go through them all, the transition to the highest speed is very fluid.  At all speeds, this mixer is very quiet thanks to its lightweight motor. The slower speeds are a boon for low-speed mixing.  Utilizing these slower speeds works well to keep the mix from splattering. This hand mixer comes with a pro whisking attachment that is great for making fluffier mix recipes such as meringues and cream fillings. The handle is quite comfortable.  It is designed so that when you rest the mixer on its end it will not tip over. The smooth sides and easy to remove beaters make the KitchenAid 9 Speed Hand Mixer an easy machine to clean up. Overall, for the price you pay, this is a steal!

CONS: The motor, with its variable nine speeds, is both a blessing and a curse.  Whereas the slower speeds work wonders on light mixes, when you need to boost the speed for something thicker, the KitchenAid 9 Speed Hand Mixer can find itself struggling to keep up at times.

The electrical cord is set at a slightly awkward angle.  It does not get in the way or anything like that when you use the mixer, but depending on how you choose to store, it may be an issue.  Granted, it is not a big issue, but it is still something to keep in mind.

CONCLUSION: If you are in the market for a high quality hand mixer that will not break the bank, then you would be hard pressed to find something that is a better deal than the KitchenAid 9 Speed Hand Dough Mixer.

As the name implies, the Cuisinart HSM-70 Power Advantage Hand/Stand Dough Mixer in review is a combination of a hand mixer and a stand mixer. This a great buy for anyone who wants to pare down on the clutter in their kitchen while still having several mixing options at hand.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: 17.8 x 11.8 x 10.2 inches
  • Weight: 9 pounds

Pros

  • One step power switch with 7-speed LED display
  • 220 watts of power and SmoothStart® feature with 3 low mixing speeds
  • Stand with tilt-back head and easy-release hand mixer button
  • Includes: flat mixing beaters, dough hooks and professional chef’s whisk
  • Instruction and recipe book included

PROS: The Cuisinart HSM-70 Power Advantage Hand/Stand Mixer is a cool little product with a lot to offer, and one of the best probably best dough mixers. First and foremost, the price is almost a steal, especially when you take into account the fact that you are basically getting two different mixers for the price. It has a 220 watt motor that gives you a choice of seven different speeds with an LED display to show you which one you are using.   The Cuisinart HSM-70 Power Advantage Hand/Stand Mixer uses something called SmoothStart technology.  What this does is give you three different slow speeds to get the dough going so that it does not get bogged down. As a handheld mixer, you would be hard pressed to find something that worked as well within the same price range. Both the mixers and the hand unit are easy to remove.  This makes both components of the machine a breeze to clean.

CONS: While this makes for an excellent combination of two different mixers, the Cuisinart HSM-70 Power Advantage Hand / Stand Dough Mixer sometimes just does not work quite as well in its standing form as a bonafide stand mixer does.  At times, the bowl which is supposed to turn with the beaters fails to do so.  This usually happens when using very thick or very runny recipes. When the bowl does not rotate, whatever you have in the bowl has the tendency to walk up the sides.  Predictably, this can result in a bit of a mess if you let it get out of hand.
IN CONCLUSION: If you want a multi-purpose mixer or just need a great hand mixer for a great price, then the Cuisinart HSM-70 Power Advantage Hand/Stand Mixer would be worth your time to check out.

( 4 ) SUNBEAM MIXMASTER STAND MIXER

Score (Rank)

Value: 8.75/10 (3)
Performance/Ease of Use: 8.25/10 (4)
Quality: 8.75/10 (3)
Size/weight: 8.5/10 (3)
Overall Rating: 8.25/10 (4)

The Sunbeam Mixmaster Stand Dough Mixers come in a selection of different models to choose from.  In this review we will concentrate our attention upon the Sunbeam 2379 Mixmaster 300-Watt 12-Speed Stand Mixer. The model 2379 Sunbeam Mixmaster Stand Mixer is a 300 watt stand mixer with a turntable base. This model is a good choice for anyone who happens to want a decent mixer at a great price.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: 14.8 x 13.6 x 12 inches
  • Weight: 17.5 pounds

Features:

  • 350 watts plus 12 speeds
  • Soft grip handle
  • Soft start technology
  • Tilt locking head with bowl selector switch
  • Includes 2 glass bowls, chrome beaters, whisks, and dough hooks

PROS: The first thing you will notice about the Sunbeam Mixmaster Stand Mixer is how light it is.  Normally, with stand mixers, having a bit of heft to the machine is a good thing as it helps to keep the mixer from shaking and jerking when in use.  However, in this case, the manufacturers designed the unit to be stable without the traditional weight and that is good news for those who store their mixers away after use. Another pro is something called Soft Start.  Instead of powering up right away, the mixer eases into the task to reduce flour puffs and other ingredients from coming out of the bowl. There also something called burst-of- power that boosts the motor when you need to give it a little bit of oomph for whatever reason. In addition, the motor has twelve speeds, comes with a stainless steel mixing bowl, and has a two year warranty.

CONS: While the bowl is true stainless steel, the mixer, for the most part, is plastic.  This is a big reason as to why this mixer is so light.  Unfortunately, it also gives the unit a, well, plastic feel, if you know what I mean. The Sunbeam 2379 Mixmaster Stand Mixer sometimes finds itself having problems mixing everything in the bowl.  Ingredients that get deposited along the inside edge of the bowl do not always get mixed back in.  In some cases, you may find yourself having to take care of this manually.
For thick breads and batters you may find that you have to really work this mixer to get the job done.  For lighter jobs, however, it works fine.
CONCLUSION: All in all, while the Sunbeam Mixmaster Stand Mixer may not be the absolute best mixer in its price range, it is still worth looking at.  And remember, there are more models in the Mixmaster line than just 2379 that was the focus of this review.

( 5 ) Hamilton Beach 63221 Stand Mixer

Score (Rank)

Value: 8.5/10 (5)
Performance/Ease of Use: 8/10 (5)
Quality: 8/10 (4)
Size/weight: 9/10 (1)
Overall Rating: 8/10 (5)

Do you need a powerful and durable electric stand mixer?  If you do, then you should definitely check out the Hamilton Beach 63221 Stand Dough Mixer. This particular mixer is made from die-cast metal and sports a powerful 400 watt motor. If you do a lot of heavy duty mixing and need something that can handle a decent load, the Hamilton Beach 63224 Stand Mixer is up to the task without breaking the bank.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: 9 x 14 x 14 inches
  • Weight: 26.3 pounds

Features:

  • Metal stand mixer with powerful 400-watt motor and 12 speed settings
  • Unique mixing head orbits around bowl as beater rotates in the opposite direction
  • Bowl locks to base for stability; quick-release head for easy access to bowl
  • 2-piece pouring shield, flat beater, dough hook, and wire whisk included
  • Measures approximately 9 by 14 by 14 inches; 3-year warranty

PROS: A great thing about this mixer is that it is made of metal.  This means it will stand up to much more abuse than a plastic and metal mix. The 63224 also has a very powerful motor.  It is rated at 400 watts and can really churn through many kinds of dough.  It is not a one trick pony, though.  It actually has twelve different speeds that you can set which makes it a good choice if you mix recipes of different consistencies on a regular basis.

A unique feature of this model is that the mixer head travels around the bowl in one direction while the beater goes the other way.  This makes for an efficient and more consistent mix time and again. Maybe the best feature about the Hamilton Beach 63224 Stand Mixer is the price that it can be had for which is a steal as it comes with various attachments and includes a three year warranty.

CONS: With a stand mixer that is really this good, there is not a lot to say about it that is negative.  However, that does not that it does not have its faults.  It just means that those faults a few and far between. One possible con is also a pro and that is the rotating head and beater.  It is something different and if you are not used to it than it may throw you for a loop. The Hamilton Beach 63224 Stand Dough Mixer is very large and does not break down into something that is easy to store.  If you use your mixer a lot, then set aside a place for it right on top of the counter; otherwise, clear out a sizeable area to store it away between uses.

CONCLUSION: Overall, this model is a great choice for anyone looking for a reasonably priced stand mixer that is capable of handling a wide variety of dough.  If you are such a person, then be sure to check out the Hamilton Beach 63224 Stand Mixer.
